with the signs of the zodiac in each relevant cartouche and the four seasons in the corners, each identified with inscriptions and associated events of each season, and text in the border cartouches including name Sultan Tahmasp

Condition

Measurements: 297cm across the top, 297cm across the bottom, 392cm from the left, 393cm from the right. Dense weave. Pile generally 3-4mm overall, with an area, centre top left corner of border, of pile down to knotheads within area of discolouration visible as white against yellow ground of cartouche with inscription. Otherwise in very good condition. Original cotton fringing and original indigo overcast sidecords. A colourful and unusual pictorial work.
