Description

  • approximately 316 by 240cm; 10ft. 4in., 7ft. 10in.

Condition

234cm across the top, 240cm across the bottom, 316cm from the left side, 316cm from the right side. Flexible handle. Dense weave closely sheared, generally 2-3mm pile overall. Some minute areas down to foundation, for example lower left corner of the main medallion. Some minor colour run and discolouration, within the top section of the main medallion, and to the two opposing spandrels, bottom left and top right where the mauve has run into surrounding pale blue ground. Top end with original flatweave and warp fringing, soumac overlocking. Lower end lacking flatweave with warp fringing overlocked. The silk is somewhat brittle and the carpet is in need of a professional clean. A classical silk with unusual purple hue and attractive borders.
