Description

  • Portrait de la Reine Victoria
  • Huile sur toile
  • 155 x 110 cm ; 61 x 43 1/4 in

Condition

The painting has been relined. Small wears are visible on the surface (the matter is rather thin in some areas). A scratch is visible on the column on the right of the painting (visible on the catalogue). Under UV light, small repaints and a few filled craquelures are visible on the Queen's neck and right shoulder ; small retouches are visible on her cheecks and nose, which continues in the background on the right. Thin retouches are visible on the Queen's right arm, and several small retouches on her dress and coat. The retouches in the white part of her robe are slightly more important. The background shows a certain number of retouches and repaints. Some traces of repaints in the background, barely visible, may be old repaints. The painting is presented in a modern frame.
