Lithograph printed in black and orange, 1914, a rich, textured impression of this very rare print, signed in pencil, one of only two known impressions printed in colours cited by Gercken, on smooth, sturdy cream wove paper

Condition

With wide (slightly uneven) margins, in good, fresh condition apart from a 2.5cm horizontal tear at the right sheet edge (well away from the subject) with a few associated broken creases, a tiny spot of surface soiling in the left margin, very slight scuffing in the margins visible in a raking light, a few slight handling marks at the edges of the sheet and further slight handling marks and surface soiling verso, a small cluster of foxing in the left margin verso, remains of previous hinging tape at the upper corners verso, unframed.

Catalogue Note

This is one of two known impressions printed with orange; the other impression is in the collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington. Gercken also cites three impressions in black: one in the collection of the Yale University Art Gallery, another in a private collection in Bremen and a third that sold at Kliptstein and Kornfeld in 1958 (whereabouts unknown)
