Some light wear and tiny nicks in places, mostly along the edges and consistent with age and handling. There is a small pin hole to the centre of the handle. This work is in good overall condition.

Catalogue Note

It is very likely that Picasso constructed Petit Couteau to be included as an element within one of the painted wood assemblages he created towards the latter part of his Cubist phase. A similar wooden knife can be glimpsed as an integral part of Nature Morte from 1914, which resides in the collection of The Tate, London.
