Description
- Alexander Mikhailovich Rodchenko
- Pine Trees
- gelatin silver print
ferrotyped, titled in Cyrillic, dated, and with numerical notations, possibly by the photographer’s daughter, Varvara Rodchenko, in pencil and with her collection stamp on the reverse, 1927, printed later (MoMA, Rodchenko, pl. 195; Levrantiev, p. 137)
Provenance
Originally in the collection of Leonid Volkov-Lannit
Condition
This ferrotyped print is in generally very good condition. As typical of the ferrotyping process, superficial scuffing, pitting, and a slight unevenness of the generally glossy surface are visible upon close inspection.
There are a few very small, soft handling creases overall that are visible only in raking light. The corners are bumped and creased, with some attendant minor chipping of the emulsion.
The reverse is faintly soiled and yellowed along the upper edge. There are small surface abrasions on the reverse.
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print appears to fluoresce.
