Description

  • Walker Evans
  • Citizen in Downtown Havana
  • gelatin silver print
large-format, signed and annotated by John T. Hill, the photographer's executor, in pencil on the reverse, 1933, printed posthumously in 1988 by Brian Graham (Cuba, pl. 23)

Condition

This oversized print, with wide margins on double-weight paper with a slight surface sheen, is in generally excellent condition. The left and right margin edges are gently rippled, and there is a small deposit of indeterminate nature at the upper left margin corner. The upper left margin edge is slightly bumped, and there is a tiny tear at the lower left margin edge. The full annotation on the reverse reads as follows: 'this print was made by Brian Graham in 1988 from Evans's original negative for the Estate of Walker Evans // John T. Hill, executor.'
