Description

  • Walker Evans
  • 41-43 Carmine Street, New York City
  • Gelatin silver print
a Lunn Gallery stamp, with 'XIV' and '71v.' in pencil,  on the reverse, framed, 1934

Condition

This print, on double-weight paper, is in generally excellent condition. The black margins are unevenly trimmed and there is some edge chipping that does not affect the image. There is a clamp impression from processing at each corner. Upon close inspection, fingerprints are visible at the lower edge of the image and margin. The reverse of the print is dated 'c. 1934' and annotated 'XIV' in an unidentified hand in pencil. When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
