Description

  • Aaron Siskind
  • Chicago 8
  • gelatin silver print
oversized, mounted, signed in pencil on the mount, framed, 1948 (Aaron Siskind Photographs, p. 32; Pleasures and Terrors, pl. 138)

Condition

This early print, on semi-glossy paper and mounted to buff-colored board, is in generally excellent condition. There is a tiny loss of emulsion along the lower edge and a barely perceptible break in the emulsion along the edge of the upper right corner. In raking light, a few small raised areas, likely the result of mounting, are visible. A thin excess of dry-mounting tissue is visible along the right edge of the print. The reverse is soiled and appropriately age-darkened. There are 2 hinge remnants along the upper edge. When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
