Description

  • Diane Arbus
  • Young Man in a Baggy Suit, N. Y. C.
  • gelatin silver print
signed and annotated with the Arbus Estate authentication number by Doon Arbus, the photographer's daughter, in ink and with the Arbus Estate copyright and reproduction rights stamps on the reverse, 1961 (Revelations, p. 56)

Condition

This early print, on double-weight paper with a semi-glossy surface, is in generally excellent condition. In raking light, scattered deposits of retouching are visible, mostly in the upper left quadrant. There are a few soft creases in the left margin that do not appear to break the emulsion. The margin edges and corners are slightly bumped, with occasional very minor chipping to the emulsion. The print is affixed to a modern mount by several pieces of tape around the edges on the reverse. The Arbus Estate authentication number written in ink is '#1140-47-10-1114.' The Arbus Estate copyright stamp is dated '61' in ink.
