Condition

The prints in this portfolio are in generally excellent condition. The plates, with dimensions and specific condition notes, are as follows: Muhammad Ali (23 3/4 by 20 in.) Pablo Casals (23 7/8 by 19 1/4 in.): There is a tiny pinpoint-sized impression in the lower left quadrant. The upper left corner of the mount is gently bumped. Marc Chagall (19 by 20 3/4 in.): There is a tiny raised area in the upper right quadrant. Winston Churchill (23 3/4 by 19 7/8 in.) Jacques Cousteau (23 3/4 by 20 in.) Albert Einstein (19 1/4 by 21 in.) Robert Frost (23 3/4 by 19 7/8 in.) Ernest Hemingway (23 7/8 by 20 in.) Helen Keller (19 by 21 1/8 in.): There are small matte areas, likely foxing, scattered throughout the print. In raking light, faint scuffs are visible overall. A thin excess of dry-mounting tissue is slightly visible on the mount around the edges of the print. The front and reverse of the mount are soiled overall, and the upper edge is worn. Joan Miro (23 3/4 by 19 7/8 in.): There is some very minor soiling in the left margin. Georgia O'Keeffe (23 3/4 by 19 in.): There is a barely discernible 3/4-inch scratch at the center of the print, above the sitter's head. There is some very minor soiling on the reverse of the mount. Pablo Picasso (23 5/8 by 20 in.): There are a few scattered small surface scratches, some of which appear to break the emulsion. At the center of the print are a few tiny matte deposits. There are a few tiny raised areas in the left portion of the print. Albert Schweitzer (23 3/4 by 19 7/8 in.)  George Bernard Shaw (23 5/8 by 19 7/8 in.) Jean Sibelius (23 3/4 by 19 7/8 in.): The lower portion of the mount is bowing slightly. The upper left corner of the title/plate list is softly bumped. The linen clamshell portfolio case is soiled overall and its corners are slightly frayed.
