Condition

This print is in generally good condition. The photograph is lifting from the mount, most significantly along the lower half of the print. In the upper portion of the image, the following are visible: scattered soft and sharp creases and a long horizontal raised area parallel to the upper edge. These do not appear to break the emulsion. In raking light, the following are also visible: scattered deposits of original retouching throughout, and a few very faint scratches and impressions that do not appear to break the emulsion. The thin black margins are inpainted with ink. There is a 3/8-inch repaired tear along the upper margin which extends into the image slightly. The upper and lower margin edges have occasional, very minor chips to the emulsion. There are yellowed fibrous and adhesive remnants along the edges of the mount. On the reverse of the mount, some scattered soiling and deposits of indeterminate nature are visible. The following is written in ink on the reverse of the mount: 'Audrey Hepburn Copyright Angus McBean 1951 her first published picture' When examined under ultraviolet light this print may fluoresce very faintly.
