Description

  • Julian Trevelyan, R.A.
  • The Old Ship, Hammersmith
  • signed and dated '86; titled on the stretcher bar
  • oil on canvas
  • 61 by 76cm.; 24 by 30in.

Condition

Original canvas. The canvas undulates slightly, most apparent in the lower left corner, but otherwise appears sound. There is a horizontal pressure mark visible in the lower left quadrant, and another one in the lower right quadrant. There is some very slight rubbing to the edges of the canvas in places. There is some very light surface dirt in places and a spot of studio detritus to the leftmost black hanging basket. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is presented in a simple dark wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
