Catalogue Note

Trevelyan was commissioned to design a series of book jackets, including the present work which is a design for David Gascoyne's compilation of poetry Night Thoughts. Gascoyne (1916 - 2001) was an English poet associated with the Surrealist movement. He was also part of the Mass-Observation project and became a close friend to Trevelyan. When Gascoyne's 1930s journals were published by the Enitharmon Press in 1978 and 1980 Trevelyan was also commissioned to design the dust jackets.
