Condition
The elements of the work appear sound and securely attached. There is some oxidisation to the metal elements, nails and wire, and some light scuffs to the metal elements, most apparent in the lower right quadrant. There are several creases apparent to the cream card element in the upper centre, thought to be in keeping with the artist's working method. There is some rubbing, several tears and one or two areas of loss to the two grey card collaged elements in the upper centre of the work, which may be inkeeping with the artist's working method. There are some very small possible flecks of loss to the oil in places, and there is some craquelure to some of the thicker areas of white oil paint. There is some surface dirt and staining, some foxing to the card elements and also some discolouration to the card. There may also be some discolouration to the cork.
The work is presented in the artist's own wooden frame.

Catalogue Note
'Cork Dreams: Waking up one September morning R found that all was not as it had been the night before ... Plains of cork stretched as far as the eye could see and broken only by the occasional human excrescences of metal and plaster. The sky too was of cork of another texture ... Here was resting his poor Pleron and he sobbed convulsively among his cork pebbles. Bitter resinous tears stole down the spongy surface of his cork cheeks.'
