Catalogue Note
Les armes sont celles de Louis-Marie-Augustin, duc d'Aumont (1709-1782). Il succède à son père en 1723 comme Premier Gentilhomme de la Chambre du Roi. Il est nommé pair de France en 1736, maréchal de camp en 1743. Il devient chevalier du Saint-Esprit en 1745. Il devient ensuite gouverneur de Compiègne, puis de Boulogne et Montreuil. Il rassemble une fantastique collection d'oeuvres d'art dans son hôtel de la place Louis XV, aujourd'hui l'hôtel Crillon place de la Concorde. A sa mort, sa collection sera dispersée lors d'une vente à laquelle le Roi Louis XVI acquérera 51 pièces et Marie-Antoinette 5. Ses pièces sont réparties aujourd'hui entre les plus grands musées du monde dont le Louvre, la Wallace, le Metropolitan etc...
