Condition
The canvas has been lined, the paint surface is dirty and the varnish is discoloured. There are scattered pinprick losses on the lower margin and in the lower right corner, and on the left margin. There are pinprick retouchings to previous losses, which have discoloured somewhat: in the sky, centre, just to the right of the battlements, and along the lower margin. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals two old campaigns of restoration, which consist of minor retouchings scattered throughout the sky, notably along the upper margin and upper centre. The painting is in overall good condition.
