Condition

Overall the condition of the sculpture is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The Child is loose and some glue reside is visible on its buttocks as well as the Virgin's proper left hand. The proper left arm of the Child is lost, and there are further minor losses to the Virgin's proper right thumb and two of the fingertips of the Virgin's proper right hand. Some of the Virgin's fingers have been reattached. The dragon snake around the orb has been reattached in several places with joints and minor glue residue visible. A section of the drapery on the Virgin's back on the proper left side is also reattached. There is some minor evidence of past worming, notably to the back and around the bottom. There is minor stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material, including some slightly open splits at the sides. The base is possibly later.
