Condition
Overall, the condition of the stand is good, with wear and some dirt consistent with age. The stand is composed in sections and it is possible that, along with the bowl and ewer, some elements may be associated, such as the rim and the coat of arms. There is some corrosion to the iron, and the lacquer that has been applied to it has flaked in areas. There are a few minor losses, including to the corners of the drip bowl, and there is also some warping. The shield with the coat of arms is slightly loose but stable in its setting, and there is wear to the paintwork. The lion at the top of the stand is also slightly loose.
There is wear and dirt to the ewer, consistent with age and use. The top part of the ewer's spout is lost. There is some greening to the metal. There is warping, including to the edges of the handles. There is a small stable fissure to the edge the foot.
There is wear to the copper bowl, consistent with age and use, including greening throughout. There is rubbing to the high points of the putto head. A small section of the rim at the back of the bowl has been cut to fit the shape of the stand.
