Description

  • Corpus Christi
  • copper, with remnants of gilding and champlevé enamelling, on a modern metal and ebonised wood stand
  • French, Limoges, 13th century

Condition

The gilding and enamelling on the copper is largely lost; traces remain primarily on the perizonium. The fingers of the proper left hand and sections of the crown are lost. There is some warping to the metal, in particular to the crown and to the feet. There is rubbing, including to the face. Otherwise the condition is stable, with some further wear and minor dirt consistent with age. The stand is in good condition with some wear, in particular to the bottom corners.
