Description
- Double handled Vase with coats of arms and profile medallions
- bronze
- Northern Italian, probably Venice, 16th century
Condition
Overall the condition of the bronze is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is some minor greening to the lacquer patina in a few areas, and some dryness and dirt in the crevices around the handles. There are a few small lacunae, consistent with casting practice. There is an original stable casting fissure to the foot. There is some rubbing to the modelling at the high points, in particular to one of the lions' snout, which appears reddish in colour. There are a few nicks and dents, notably around the upper rim.
