Condition

Overall the condition of the wood is good, with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age. Both arms and a section of the book are lost. There are also losses to the drapery at the two sides at the bottom at the back. There is evidence of past worming, notably to the back and around the terrasse at the bottom, where this has led to some losses. There is a minor loss to the tip of the nose, probably due to rubbing. There is some stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material, including to the forehead and proper right eye, the back of the head, the drapery around the abdomen, and around the proper left sleeve. There is wear to the polychromy, including some flaking, with minor losses including: to the forehead, to the nose, to the folds of drapery at the front, and to a fold on the proper left side at the bottom. The polychromy has probably been refreshed at a later date. There is some minor wax residue to the proper right knee. It is likely that there was a now-lost attribute to the top of the head. There is a hole to the underside.
