Condition
The following condition report is provided by Hamish Dewar who is an external specialist and not an employee of Sotheby's: The panel is cradled. There are vertical splits and fine lines of craquelure. There are a few very small losses. The paint surface is stable and has a relatively even varnish layer. Inspection under ultra-violet light shows an opaque varnish layer and carefully applied scattered spots and lines of retouchings mainly in the faces and hands of the figures and in the background. Overall the painting is in good condition.
