Condition
The canvas has a firm relining, the paint surface is dirty and the varnish is thick and somewhat discoloured. There is a reverse L shape line of pronounced craquelure to the right of the sitters face, along which there are some retouchings, otherwise no major damage. Inspection under UV light reveals an opaque and thick varnish, there are some retouchings visible at the corners of the canvas, and a few minor ones in the white collar of the sitter.
Offered in a gilt and red painted frame with a few losses.
