Condition
The canvas has been lined, the paint surface is slightly dirty and the varnish is slightly discoloured and uneven. The painting is unfinished, and the ground is also visible in the background. There are two very superficial surface scratches, the longer of which measures approx. 7 cm., in the sitter's left hand. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals scattered retouchings in the sitter's hair, collar and torso, as well as some strengthening around the outlines of the hands. In overall good condition.
