This watercolour has been very well preserved. the colours are fresh and strong. The work is not laid down.

Catalogue Note

The market town of Aylsham lies some ten miles north of Norwich. The generously gabled red-brick house depicted in the present watercolour, which served as the 'Anchor Inn' in the early 19th century, is now known as 'Bridge House'. The river Bure can be seen in the foreground.
