Catalogue Note

This work was preserved, along with twelve other watercolours by Thomas Shotter Boys, in an album that bore a book plate from Crewe Hall in Cheshire. This was the family seat of the Crewe family and the Hon. Annabel Crewe, daughter of John, 2nd Baron Crewe (1772-1835), received drawing lessons from Boys in circa 1850. For another watercolour from this album please see lot 320.
