  • Head of a Faun
  • white marble, on a porphyry and marble base
  • Italian, late 19th/ early 20th century

Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is good, with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The surface is slightly weathered, in particular to the hair. There is some light brown dirt to the surface in most areas. There is veining to the marble consistent with the material, notably to the proper right cheek. There is some plaster fill below the neck. There are a few very minor chips to the high points. The base is in good condition with some minor dirt and wear. There are several minor chips to the edges, and notably one to the front left corner at the top.
