Description
- Model of the Column of Phocas
- inscribed: COLONNA FOCA
- red marble, black marble, and bronze
- Italian, 19th century After the Antique
Condition
There is wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age, with dust throughout. The object is composed of four parts, which slide into each other with metal rods and are slightly unstable. The column does not stand straight in its setting. There are losses to the red marble steps at the base: the bottom step is lost on one side, one of the corners is lost, and a piece is loose. There are a few minor chips to the edges and corners of the marble, in particular to the bottom of the column and to the corners of the capital. There is wear to the bronze figure. Otherwise the condition is stable.
