Condition

Both monuments are composed of a large base section and a surmounting equestrian group on an integral bronze base, which is loose. Both equestrian groups have broken off their bases at the horses' legs, and there are further breaks to both horses' legs with several loose pieces. A few pieces of the legs of the brown-patinated horse are lost. There are further losses and some warping to the riding gear, in particular that of the brown-patinated horse. The rider's proper right leg on the brown group has been reattached with an open but stable joint. There are also a few losses to the figures on the base sections, notably a horse's leg and one figure's arm. There is wear including minor tarnishing to the patinas. There is dirt and further wear throughout. The monuments are accompanied by a loose spelter sword whose handle has broken off. There is wear to the ebonised wood bases, including some stable splitting, minor evidence of worming, and chips to the edges and corners.
