Condition
Overall the condition of the metal is good, with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is wear to the gilding throughout, including some tarnishing. There are a few minor areas of greening, including to the forehead. There are a few reddish marks. There are two screw holes to the undersides of the feet, indicating that the figure was once mounted. The figure does not stand up independently.

Catalogue Note
The present figure is a reduction of the statue of the Roman Emperor surmounting the Augustus Fountain in Augsburg, erected in 1594 to honour the city's historical founder. A miniature version of the fountain in silver, produced by the Goldschmiedehaus Schmedding in the early 20th century, is in the Schaezlerpalais, Augsburg.
