Description

- tallest: 55cm, high; 1ft. 9¾in.
comprising: a model of the Brunswick lion, with dedication and dated 1895; a model of the Gustav-Adolf memorial monument in Lützen, with dedication, cast by the foundry Martin & Pilzig in Berlin; and a model of a (not executed) Bismarck obelisk monument with Bismarck coat-of-arms.

Condition
The Brunswick model with the wood section with marks of woodworm. Bronze in good condition but in need of clean. One chain needing re-attaching. With Schonhausen inventory number and Feudalmuseum Schloss Werniregode label to base.
The Gustav-Adolf monument model - the base with marks of old woodworm and small scratches; bronze with three finials snapped (two still existing that can be repaired) and two finials flanking the cross are broken, though they are still with the piece and can be reattached. two elements to cornice bent. In need of clean.
The Bismarck obelisk with its base missing and in need of a clean, minor chip to bronze to back.

Catalogue Note
The Brunswick model was a gift of the Plattdeutschen Vereins zu Braunschweig to Bismarck on occasion of his 80th birthday in 1895. The Gustav-Adolf monument was a gift of the citizens of the city of Lützen.
