Condition
Not examined out of the frame. The board appears sound. There is some minor frame abrasions to the extreme edges, with a few resultant losses to the lower edge.
There are two losses apparent at the upper left edge of the work. There are some further tiny flecks of loss elsewhere, including to the back of the boy's head, right shoulder, cheek and right eye, which are only visible upon close inspection. There is some light surface dirt and studio detritus to the work in places. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet reveals some flecks of retouching to the boy's right eye and eyebrow, both of his shoulders, his right ear and right side of his hairline.
The work is presented in a painted wooden frame, held under glass.
