Condition

Original canvas. The canvas appears sound. Upon close inspection, it is possible to see some lines of craquelure, some of which have been consolidated, and there are a few tiny spots of lifting, primarily to the green pigments. The varnish appears slightly discoloured in places. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some very small flecks of retouching apparent to the green pigment in the lower left corner, the green pigment in the centre and the green pigment to the left of the road at the right. The work is housed in a gilt wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
