Condition

Original canvas. The canvas undulates slightly in places but otherwise appears sound. There are some scattered lines of reticulation and craquelure in places, with some associated lifting and small losses in places, most apparent to but not limited to the yellow pigment in the lower left quadrant, the red pigment in the centre, the blue and green pigment near the centre of the right edge, the blue pigment in the upper left quadrant just above the yellow pigment, and also the black-blue pigment just above the yellow in the lower left quadrant, with some further minor instances in one or two places. There is some light surface dirt and studio detritus in places, and there are one or two light scuffs in places, most apparent in the upper right corner. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition, with strong and vivid colours throughout. Ultraviolet light reveals some areas of fluorescence, which are thought to be in keeping with the artist's materials. The work is float mounted and presented in a wooden and metal frame, with some framing tape visible around the outer sides of the canvas.
