Condition

The board is sound. There are some minor lines of craquelure to a few spots of thicker impasto. There is a spot of lifting to the black piugment under the word 'patent'. There are one or two tiny flecks of loss to the tips of the impasto, and a loss to the green pigment lower left. The varnish has discoloured, with evidence of surface dirt and debris, and the work may benefit from a light clean. Ultraviolet light reveals no signs of retouching. Held under glass in a gilt wood frame with a white slip. Unexamined out of frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
