Literature
Douglas Cooper (ed.), The Work of Graham Sutherland, Lund Humphries, London, 1961, colour plate V.
Condition
The sheet undulates slightly but otherwise appears sound. The sheet is affixed to the mount with two tabs along the upper horizontal edge, and there is some old adhesive tape running the length of the upper horizontal edge on the reverse of the sheet. There is a tiny spot of craquelure to the left side of the black crescent-shaped area in the lower right quadrant. There are one or two spots of studio detritus in places, and some very light traces of surface dirt, visible when viewed out of the frame. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in excellent overall condition, with fresh and vivid colours throughout.
The work is window mounted and presented in a painted wooden frame, held under glass.
