entro cornici in ebano con applicazioni in rame dorato, ciascuno raffigurante  un paesaggio con edifici in calcedoni, agate e pietre dure, con cielo in lapislazzulo e colline in diaspro, piccoli restauri

Condition

The exterior ebony frames have their corner joints slightly loose and visible. Light scratches and minor cracks. The pietradura plaques are in good conditions. Guild bronze frames All with irregularities and minor damages. Pink stucco losses at 14:40, 15:30, 18:30, 21:30 o'clock and on the left lower corner. One panel has damages on the interior guilt bronze frame at 15:30, 17:30, 18:30, 21:30, 11:00 o'clock. Below the grotesque mask, on the right, a rewilding for 1.8cm. Some areas of restoration and substitution of the lapis sky. The support on the back shows slight losses and chips on the edges and around the four screws. A loss of 3x3cm on the left back corner. The inner guilt bronze frame has damages at 12:30, 14:40, 17:15 o'clock with a rewilding below the right grotesque mask of 6cm and on the upper left corner. Losses of the pink stucco on both lower corners. Back Light losses on the edges and around the four skews. One of head skews is missing.

Catalogue Note

Questa coppia di commessi aveva probabilmente la funzione di decorare i cassetti di un importante stipo.
La rarità e la precocità della loro concezione li pone in relazione con due placche con paesaggi conservati nel Museo dell’Opificio di Firenze eseguiti già attorno al 1608 su disegno di Bernardino Poccetti da Francesco Gasparo Salina o da Camillo d’Ottaviano di Porfirio (Splendori di pietre dure, catalogo della mostra, Firenze, Palazzo Pitti 1988-1989, p. 120).
E’ possibile riscontrare delle analogie anche con due pannelli dello Stipo Tedesco del Museo degli Argenti a Firenze, realizzato ad Augusta tra il 1619-1626 soprattutto nell’uso dei lapislazzuli per il cielo e per il tipo di diaspro a bande per le colline. Anche gli elementi in rame dorato, come i volti grotteschi dei mascheroni, possono essere ricondotti ad un ambito germanico.
