Description

  • Leonardo Coccorante
  • CAPRICCI ARCHITETTONICI CON FIGURE
  • olio su rame;
    oil on copper

Condition

The two coppers are offered inside two beautiful, gilded, 17th century style, Roman baroque frames. 1) Architecture capriccio with obelisque and fountain To the naked eye, the copper plate shows a good state of conservation except for two tiny paint losses, nearly invisible, on the obelisque’s dark side, but subject to restoration. 2) Architecture capriccio with sarcophagus on the left To the naked eye, the copper plate presents, three dents towards the margins, close to the centre, probably due to a punch on the back, together with one tiny paint loss on the volute of the statue’s base. Inspection under UV reveals, in both pieces, small scattered retouches, normal for paintings dating from the 18th century.
