Condition
The canvas has been relined. There are some scratches and tiny losses at lower right edge and another tiny loss at upper left (all of these visible in catalogue image). Overall the painting reads well and presents a very decorative image. On close inspection there is some thinness in the brown pigments, most noticeably in the foreground and figures, and the portion of the building at far left side. Examination under UV light reveals scattered retouches throughout, some very small, such as inpaints of craquelure, and others a bit larger to address possible old punctures. There is retouching along all four edges. This painting is presentable and can be hung as is, though attention to the tiny losses and scratches mentioned above would certainly improve the appearance.
Offered in an elaborately carved and gilt wood frame with carved shield at upper center bearing artist's name. Some minor nicks.
