Catalogue Note

Dr Bernard Schnackenburg confirmed the attribution to Dusart at the time of the Christie's sale in 1990 (see Provenance).  The baker blowing his horn is taken from an Adriaen van Ostade etching (Hollstein XV, no. 7).
