Window mounted. The sheet has very slightly discolored and there are some very small areas of surface dirt throughout. Otherwise in very fine condition with the medium extremely fresh and vibrant throughout. Sold in a giltwood frame.

Catalogue Note
The composition of this drawing, if not perhaps its technique, is strongly reminiscent of the work of Paulus Bril, who worked in Italy from the 1570s until his death in 1626, with far-reaching effects on the status and style of Italian landscape art of the period. Cantagallina did himself visit the Netherlands in 1612-13, but it is much more likely that his exposure to the compositions of Bril occurred in his native Italy.
