The fluted rock crystal design decorated with three bands set with old mine, old European and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 4.75 carats, with French assay and maker's marks; circa 1935.
Condition
In good condition. A few very minor chips to the rock crystal visible under magnification and not apparent when worn. The three largest diamonds are approximately U-V color, SI clarity. The remaining diamonds are approximately K-M color, predominantly SI clarity with a few VS examples. Please note this lot is accompanied by a certificate from Françoise Cailles stating, "I, the undersigned Françoise Cailles, certify that the clip shown above corresponding to the following designation: 'Rock crystal clip, mounted in platinum and white gold. Of rectangular bombé form, it consists of three row, each decorated with a bande set with brilliant cut diamonds (antique cut). At the center, set with a more important diamond (antique cut). Clasp is an openwork flap. Net weight 26.6 grams. Dimensions 3.4 x 3 cm. Assay and maker's mark.' Is a work by René Boivin, 1935, design by Suzanne Belperron. Certificate made in Paris 27 November 2016. The design for this brooch is reproduced in F. Cailles, René Boivin: Jeweller. Paris, 1994, page 117.
