Description

  • Van Cleef & Arpels
  • Emerald, Diamond, Gold
Centring on a cabochon emerald weighing approximately 2.30 carats, to the circular-cut diamond shoulders embellished with baguette diamond borders together weighing approximately 2.00 carats, mounted in 18 karat yellow gold, signed and numbered NY57668. Ring size: 6

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to the GIA report, the emerald is natural, of Colombian origin, with moderate clarity enhancement. Please refer to the report for details. In our opinion, the emerald is medium intense green colour. Under the 10x loupe inspection, there are typical fingerprints inclusions with some surface reaching and some to the opening, but not noticeable to the naked eye. The baguette diamonds are about G to H colour, VVS to VS clarity; the circular-cut diamonds are about G to I colour (grading as per mounting permit), VS to SI clarity. Signed, and the number should read NY57668 instead of 57668 as stated in the catalogue. Condition: Karat yellow gold ring mount, hardly any signs of wear, in very good overall condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
