Description
- Bernard Leach
- Low Table
- variously indistinctly signed with initials
- thirty glazed earthenware tiles, set within a wooden table
- length: 107cm.; 42in.
Provenance
Tremayne Applied Arts, St Ives, where acquired by the present owner in the 1990s
Condition
The tiles are set within the table top and the reverse of the tiles, which would bear the artist's stamp or signature, is not visible.
There is a crack through one of the speckled oat grey tiles, but otherwise the tiles all appear structurally sound. There are traces of glaze loss to the central decorated tile, with one or two further, minor traces visible elsewhere. There are further tiny traces of possible loss to the grouting between the tiles.
There is a loss to the corner of the wood visible, but this excepting the work appears in good overall condition.
