  • signed
  • oil on canvas
  • 50.5 by 61cm.; 20 by 26in.

Provenance

Acquired directly from the Artist by the family of the present owners, circa 1965

Condition

Original canvas. There is a very faint stretcher bar line along the top left horizontal edge, only visible upon extremely close inspection. There is a minor sign of possible old varnish discolouration to the centre of the right edge, together with a few spots of dirt and surface matter, again only visible upon very close inspection. There are a few line of slight craquelure towards the centre of the composition. This excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals signs of fluorescence and possible retouchings to the top right quadrant in the sky, and also to the green and yellow cornfields. These have all been very sensitively executed. Housed in a thin strip gilt frame. Please contact the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
