Condition

Original canvas. There is a very faint stretcher bar mark along the centre of the top edge. There are some tiny traces of reticulation to the green pigment, visible upon very close inspection. There are scattered areas of craquelure visible to the grey pigment in the top half of the work, and minor surface dirt, but this excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals a couple of scattered traces of fluorescence to the centre and right hand edge of the composition, which appear in keeping with probable retouchings, together with some further traces visible to the grey pigment in the upper left quadrant, which may be in line with some old retouching. Housed in a thin, simple grey painted frame. Please contact the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
