Provenance
Sale, Christie's London, 3rd March 1989, lot 346, where acquired by the present owner
Condition
Original canvas. The canvas appears sound. There are some small marks of frame abrasion around the edges of the work in places, with some resultant tiny flecks of loss. There are some fine scattered lines of craquelure in places, and one or two lines of reticulation apparent to the dark red pigment in the flowers. There is some light surface dirt in places, including a speck of matter to the white rim of the dish. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals an uneven surface varnish and a couple of minor spots of fluorescence and probable retouching to the background.
The work is presented in a gilt frame.
