Condition
Original canvas. The canvas undulates slightly in the lower left quadrant but otherwise appears sound. There is a push to the canvas to the right of the black door beneath the 'talkies' sign, and a tiny indentation to the canvas in the grey pigment in the upper right quadrant. There are very light stretcher lines visible at both of the vertical sides, and there is some slight frame abrasion apparent to the edges in places. There is a small fleck of loss to the lower left beneath the red flag, and a further very tiny fleck of loss towards the upper left vertical edge. There is some light surface dirt and studio detritus. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals an uneven varnish layer and areas of fluorescence, most of which appear inkeeping with the nature of the artist's materials, but some minor instances of which may indicate old retouchings, most notably to the sky.
The work is presented in a simple wooden frame.
