Condition
Original canvas. The canvas has been attached to black fabric around the edges of the stretcher. The canvas undulates very slightly in the lower left quadrant, but otherwise appears sound. Around the edges of the canvas, where it has been pulled round the stretcher, it is possible to see some small spots of the canvas where some staples have been removed. There is a small area in the bottom right quadrant where there is a loss to the oil and pigment at the lower part of the neck. There are some specks of light surface dirt and studio detritus across the work, and a very tiny spot of possible retouching at the lower right corner. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching.
The work is unframed.
